Helping to Raise Friends & Funds

The Burlington Museums Foundation is a registered charitable foundation that helps raise friends and funds to support Burlington’s two museums, Joseph Brant Museum and Ireland House at Oakridge Farm.

Our top priority is a commitment to raise $2.5 million towards the much needed
$11.4 million expansion of the Joseph Brant Museum.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary

After more than two decades of planning, the much-needed expansion of Burlington’s Joseph Brant Museum is finally a reality.

All levels of government have now shown their vocal and financial support to the expansion as a major community project to celebrate Canada’s Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) in 2017. Coincidentally, 2017 is also the 75th Anniversary of Joseph Brant Museum!

In addition to the City of Burlington Media Release, you can find out more by reading the CHML Global News story!

“The Joseph Brant Museum is an important space in our community that provides a window into Burlington’s rich cultural past and early foundations. I look forward to watching the progress of the construction of the new facilities.”

Generous Community Support

We are now moving beyond ‘conceptual’ renderings to detailed architectural drawings that will allow the City of Burlington to seek tenders for construction. This stage is being financed through generous community support provided by Burlington Builder Families who have donated to the Burlington Museums Foundation.

Showcase Blockbuster Exhibits

The $11.4 million expansion will add 12,000 square feet including four exhibit halls that offer the opportunity to showcase special exhibits, two multi-purpose rooms, a lobby, shop, resource centre and storage for over 25,000 artifacts and historical treasures.

More importantly, it will enable the Joseph Brant Museum, Burlington’s Community Museum and Heritage Centre, to showcase blockbuster exhibitions from around the globe.

In partnership with the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, the Art Gallery of Burlington and Discovery Landing, the new Joseph Brant Museum will also enhance Burlington’s waterfront as a destination for local families and tourists.
