Helping to Raise Friends & Funds
The Burlington Museums Foundation is a registered charitable foundation that helps raise friends and funds to support Burlington’s two museums, Joseph Brant Museum and Ireland House at Oakridge Farm.
Currently, our fundraising focus is on Joseph Brant Museum. The renovation was an $11.4 million project, of which, we now have $400,000 to go to meet our $2.5 million commitment to the City of Burlington.
Giving Thanks to Our Community
In times such as these, it is more important than ever to come together and continue to support our community. We know our donors are doing just, and we would like to say thank you.
The Joseph Brant Museum is open and to find out how you can safely plan your visit click here. We look forward to reconnecting either online or at the Museum and thank you for your continued support. Surely, this will be a piece of history that will be added to the archives and truly define us as a caring, giving community.

Expansion Now Reality
After more than two decades of planning, the much-needed expansion of Burlington’s Joseph Brant Museum is finally a reality.
In 2017, all levels of government showed their vocal and financial support to the expansion as a major community project which was timed to celebrate Canada’s Sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) and the 75th Anniversary of Joseph Brant Museum!
“The Joseph Brant Museum is an important space in our community that provides a window into Burlington’s rich cultural past and early foundations.”
Karina Gould, Minister of International Development, MP for Burlington
Generous Community Support
This expansion has been part-financed through generous community support provided by Burlington Builder Families who have donated to the Burlington Museums Foundation. In addition to the Ireland family, community leaders Dan Lawrie, Don & Wendy Smith, Michael Schwenger, Hogarth family, Keith Strong, Paletta family, the Hutter family and many others have all come forward to support our project.
Showcase Blockbuster Exhibits
The $11.4 million expansion has added 14,000 square feet with four exhibit halls that offer the opportunity to showcase special exhibits, two multi-purpose rooms, lobby, shop, resource centre and storage for over 25,000 artifacts and historical treasures.
More importantly, it has enabled the Joseph Brant Museum, to showcase blockbuster exhibitions from around the globe including the recent exhibits from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and American Museum of Natural History.
In partnership with the Burlington Performing Arts Centre, the Art Gallery of Burlington and Discovery Landing, the new Joseph Brant Museum will also enhance Burlington’s waterfront as a destination for local families and tourists.
